Olive Crush Farms
The Details
What do you do when you have 5 acres of barren land, a life of love and health, and a desire to bring people together? This is all we had when we met each other in 2013, and what it led to neither of us could have expected. We both shared a love of olive oil as part of our healthy living, which helped us create Olive Crush Farms and make our own olive oil. Working with a lot of love, sweat, and tears, we hand-planted 580 olive trees that today produce award-winning olive oil. Our challenge then became how can we bring this to others and share the bounty of our efforts. We packed it all into a Jeep and began by driving the country roads on weekends to participate in local shows, letting people taste and buy our wares.
However, in October 2019, we had an opportunity to open a store locally, Olive Crush Farms and Provisions. What started as a small craft store that sold locally made olive oil in 2019 has become a store featuring over 86 consigned local crafters, fine foods, unique jewelry, and gifts. We were able to stay open and safe to support our community during the pandemic, selling local eggs, coffee, honey, and other foods. As restrictions looked toward easing, we expanded to create a unique tasting room where our customers could taste local wines, beers, ciders, and foods in a comfortable local “my place” kind of environment, earning us 2 awards for the best tasting room in Calaveras County.
The journey is not done; we are always trying to find ways to engage with our community and bring them an awesome local experience. With our acquisition of a Victorian Farmhouse in rural Lodi, we decided to sell our Olive Ranch and build something special for our family. We have planted a new orchard and opened up the Olive Crush Farms Olive Oil Boutique in beautiful downtown Lodi to share all the wonderful “Local” olive oils in our area in one location. Come by 104 N. School Street, Suite 100, to see the amazing selection of local extra virgin olive oils, California balsamic vinegar, stuffed olives, and more!
