While wine may be one of the central figures that thousands and thousands of tourists flock to every year, there are some great things for families to take advantage of during your next trip to Lodi!

World of Wonders Science Museum

Whether it’s energy, electricity, magnetism, optics and more, the World of Wonders Science Museum serves to inspire kids in the (STEM) fields of

  • Science
  • Technology
  • Engineering
  • and Math
  • and is a wonderful, family-oriented space.

The best part is that you won’t break the bank!  Admission for adults 18 and over is just $7 while children 2-17 are just $5!

One thing is certain, you won’t want to miss the WOW Science Museum on your trip to Lodi!

Head to Lodi Lake Park

Get the kids away from all the distractions of the millennia and head outdoors to Lodi Lake Park. This 58-acre nature area is an amazing playground for families to enjoy a number of outdoor activities and connect with nature.

Whether you want to take it in from land with trails around the park, or from the water on a

  • kayak,
  • canoe,
  • or paddleboard

Lodi Lake Park will not disappoint the kids at all!

It’s not uncommon to see a number of different animals like

  • birds,
  • otters,
  • and deer

as you walk or boat your way around the park. There is even a sandy beach area for public swimming during the summer months.

You may think that renting a kayak with your kids can prove to be a pricey activity, but the folks at the Headwaters Boathouse have made it really affordable to get the entire family excited about kayaking!  Sign up for one of their tours throughout the year and kids 10-years-old and younger are free with any paid adult!

What a way to get outside and get active!

Go to the Zoo

Home to animals native to the Central Valley and exotic species from all around the world, including several endangered species, the Micke Grove Zoo is another easy stop to make on your family vacation in Lodi!

Exhibits from the Tropical Forest Canopy, the Tule Islands turtles, snow leopards and even play areas to let the kids unwind.  Those exhibits, plus so many more, will be sure to keep you and your kids entertained!

Get Artsy in Lodi

There are 10 murals painted in Downtown Lodi that depict the history of the city for its 100th birthday!

These beautifully painted pieces of art are an easy walk to see (but be sure to hold hands and look both ways when crossing the streets of Lodi).

Stop by the Downtown Visitor’s Center, say hi to us, and get a free map of these locations that you can go to and enjoy.

But once you’re done seeing all 10 murals, you can continue to be artsy at Tony Segale’s Double Dip Gallery. Segale is himself a terrifically talented artist, and while he contributed to Lodi’s murals, you can see some of his own creations including

  • his watercolors
  • and his impressive, beautiful lettering
  • and gold leaf works hung on the wall!

You won’t just go there for the art though, as you can reward the kids with some of California’s famous hand-crafted ice cream from Gunther’s! With tons of flavors, coming in various sizes, it’s easy to get inspired to create (and to eat) at Segale’s Double Dip Gallery!

Head to Kid Friendly Wineries

Even with the family, there are still great places in Lodi where kids can be kids and adults can taste some of the world class wines that have made Lodi so famous!

You can check out a number of Lodi kid-friendly wineries listed in a previous blog written right here on Visit Lodi, but one you won’t want to miss is located at Michael David Winery.

Michael David Winery is gigantic, and truly is a place that the entire family can enjoy. This expansive tasting area is not just an indoor room, but an entire outdoor area that should probably have its own zip code! Wines are served pond side, where you can

  • enjoy the beautiful weather,
  • play a round of bocce ball
  • and enjoy some of the finest wine in Lodi.

Michael David is home to Wine Enthusiast’s 2018 Winemaker of the Year Adam Mettler, so adults can sip on some of the best wine, recognized worldwide, all while your kids can enjoy the fresh air and a wonderful playground outside!

You won’t even have to leave for breakfast or lunch as the Farm Café serves up delicious breakfast food like

  • chicken and waffles,
  • omelets and more,
  • and sandwiches, burgers and salads for lunch!
