Overview
Step back in time at the San Joaquin County Historical Museum, where the vibrant stories of California’s Central Valley come to life! Nestled in the heart of Micke Grove Park, just minutes from downtown Lodi, this family-friendly destination offers an unforgettable journey through over 150 years of regional heritage. It traces the evolution from the Yokuts and Miwok tribes to Captain Charles Weber, Stockton's founder and the area's first farmer, and the rise of modern agriculture. The museum boasts eight exhibition buildings and four historic structures, including the Charles Weber cottage (1847) and Calaveras School (1866). Visitors can explore dioramas featuring the Weber family's furnishings, a children's gallery, and extensive displays of hand tools and agricultural equipment. Be sure to stop by the Gift Shop before you leave!
Explore beautifully preserved historic buildings, including a one-room schoolhouse and blacksmith shop, and dive into engaging exhibits that showcase the area’s agricultural roots, pioneering spirit, and evolving communities. Kids will love the interactive Children’s Activity Center, while history buffs will appreciate rare artifacts and rotating exhibits that shine a light on local innovation and culture.
Each December, the museum hosts the annual Festival of Trees Christmas event. For more details, visit the San Joaquin County Historical Society and Museum's official website for event listings.
