HEADING TO LODI WITH YOUR FAMILY IN TOW? YOU’RE IN LUCK BECAUSE THERE ARE LOTS OF FUN-FILLED ACTIVITIES TO CHOOSE FROM.

Whether making it a museum day or eager to enjoy the great outdoors, you can’t go wrong in family-friendly Lodi. Explore this charming city in the Central Valley with your family, and check out this list of budget-friendly activities that will keep you busy all day. Let the games begin!

Learn something new at World of Wonders Science Museum

Calling all curious minds! The World of Wonders Science Museum, aka the WOW, is a must-see for families. Located in Downtown Lodi, it’s easy to squeeze this into your day. Exhibits are hands-on and immersive, catering to both kids and adults. As of today, there are more than 70 exhibits, some of which are built by resident scientific engineer Jim Pyers. Learn about light at the Shadow Table exhibit or feel like an astronaut and walk weightless at the Moon Walk exhibit.

Interact with animals at Micke Grove Zoo

You don’t have to go on a safari to see exotic animals up close. Micke Grove Zoo is home to a slew of species, from the black-and-white ruffed lemur and cotton-top tamarin to green iguanas and Prevost’s squirrels. Swing by the Tropical Forest Canopy to see birds of every color of the rainbow or get an insider’s glimpse into Madagascar’s wildlife at the Island Lost in Time. If you’re on a time crunch, consider planning your visit in either the morning or late afternoon, as these are the times when animals are most active.

Picnic in Micke Grove Park

When you’re all “zooed” out, check out Micke Grove Park. For some peace and quiet, take a stroll through the picturesque Japanese Garden. Here you’ll see 60 Kwanzan flowering cherry trees, 11 lanterns and vibrant koi fish swimming in the pond. Even more impressive are the three religions that influenced the garden’s final design: Shintoism, Buddhism and Taoism. Alternatively, find a patch of grass and camp out for an afternoon picnic or cool off in one of the water play areas.

Kayak or Stand-Up Paddleboard at Lodi Lake

Kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding might not have the thrill-seeking appeal of surfing, per se, but it’s one of the best ways to interact with Lodi’s wildlife. If you’re new to kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding, sign up for a lesson or at the very least, give it a try. It’s easy to learn and a lot of fun. Rentals are available. Looking to meet like-minded travelers? Join The Headwaters Kayak Shop on a Social Paddle. Choose between Wednesday-evening paddles and the Full Moon Paddle. Instagram-worthy pictures will ensue!
