A Perfect Pairing for Super Bowl LII

Muhammara: The Ultimate Dip for Zinfandel!

From its humble beginnings, today it is recognized for producing world-class, award-winning wines.

With the Super Bowl right around the corner, why not grab a bottle of Zin from Lodi, the unofficial “Zinfandel Capital of the World” for your Super Bowl festivities?

Zinfandel has got you covered for plenty of your favorite Super Bowl party fare like burgers, barbecue, pizza, meaty or vegetarian chili, nachos and even moderately spicy chicken wings (opt for a lower alcohol, preferably under 15% alcohol, Zinfandel.  A higher alcohol Zin may amplify the spiciness of the wings).

But, when it comes to popular Super Bowl dips such as guacamole, tomato-based salsa, spinach and artichoke dip, or onion dip, Zinfandel is not a good choice.  It will clash with the flavors in those dips.

Instead, consider Muhammara dip (click here for recipe).  It’s a hearty roasted red pepper and walnut dip with a warm, tangy, and slightly sweet character.  It’s easy to prepare, especially if you use jarred roasted red peppers.  When ready to serve, top the dip with a drizzle of EVOO and garnish with few fresh walnuts and parsley for presentation.  Serve with pita bread or pita chips for the ultimate companion for Zinfandel!
